About (Yorgos Lanthimos, 2009, Greece, 96 min, in Greek with English subtitles)
Restored in 4K from the 35mm camera and sound negatives, Yorgos Lanthimos DOGTOOTH returns to theaters this Summer!
In an effort to protect their three children from the corrupting influence of the outside world, a Greek couple transforms their home into a gated compound of cultural deprivation and strict rules of behavior. But children cannot remain innocent forever. When the father brings home a young woman to satisfy his sons sexual urges, the familys engineered reality begins to crumble, with devastating consequences.
Graceful, enigmatic, and often frightening, Dogtooth is an ingenious dark comedy that won the Un Certain Regard Prize at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival and an Academy Award® nomination for Best Foreign Language Film, propelling Oscar® winner Yorgos Lanthimos (Poor Things, The Favourite) to the forefront of contemporary cinemas most ambitious young filmmakers. Like the haunting, dystopic visions of Michael Haneke and Gaspar NoĆ©, Dogtooth punctuates its compelling drama with moments of shocking violence, creating a biting social satire that is as profound as it is provocative.
New 4K Restoration from the 35mm camera and sound negatives by Boo Productions and mk2 Films at Asterisk* Post and I Hear Voices sound studio. Colour grading by Gregory Arvanitis and Thimios Bakatakis. Digital sound restoration by Landros Ntounis. The restoration process was supervised by the director, Yorgos Lanthimos. |

Accessibility
|
Ticketing, concessions, cinemas, restrooms, and our public edit lab are located on Northwest Film Forum's ground floor, which is wheelchair accessible. We have a limited number of assistive listening devices available for programs hosted in our larger theater, Cinema 1. These devices are maintained by the Technical Director, and can be requested at the ticketing and concessions counter.
The Forum does NOT have assistive devices for the visually impaired, and is not (yet) a scent-free venue. Our commitment to increasing access for our audiences is ongoing, and we welcome all public input on the subject!
If you have additional specific questions about accessibility at our venue, please contact our Patron Services Manager at maria@nwfilmforum.org
