The Cohen Bray House was the wedding present for Emma Bray Cohen and Alfred Henry Cohen when it was finished for their wedding day February 28th, 1884.
This one family occupied the house for 138 years so everything in the house is unique to them. When you step in the front door, you will be surrounded with all the wedding presents and later items gifted to the couple in their 45 years of marriage. Step back in time. Built across the street from the 1865 Oak tree farm homestead, it is all thats left of the original 200 acres.
You will tour the house with their descendants, who are eager to share family stories and show you the restorations we have accomplished this past year.
Please feel free to wear period clothing. Any decade from 1880-1980 is appropriate.
The house is best for children 5 and older. There are many fragile items and the tour is set up for adults. If you have questions, please ask. cohenbrayhouse@gmail.com. Special tours more geared for children are available.
Alameda County recommends that masks be worn at this time. Cohen Bray House will check for proof of vaccination and the group will decide if masks will be worn. Please bring your mask with you just win case.
